#MajorKey - Men Grooming Essentials

As a man, being well kept should be at the top of all our list. The way you present yourself can determine not only how you are perceived by others, but also effects your confidence and social interactions. With this being said, you don’t have to go out and reinvent the man groom wheel. Just master these top essentials and you will be fine!

Haircut

Maybe you’ve been bald for over a decade. Maybe your locks flow like a harsh river’s current after a storm. No matter the case, it’s part of your appearance that can earn serious bonus points, not only for one’s self confidence, but for his overall appeal in any given setting. Every man feels at his sharpest when his head looks the part. Whether you’re taking matters into your own hands with a Mach 3 Turbo blade in your bathroom mirror or making appointments with the barber you’ve been seeing for the majority of your adult life, a man’s haircut speaks volumes about his nature and perceived personality. If a grooming specialist is needed, the links below are approved barbers by Dr Goat.

Shave/Trim

You may not have the time or money for a haircut every week. That doesn’t mean you can’t keep it tight and, at the very least, looking like you give somewhat of a damn. A fresh shave and/or trim go a long way to freshen up any guy’s appearance. The 5 o’clock shadow can always be a good look, but it’s an even better one when you take 5 minutes to make sure you’ve lined it up in a way that says “Yeah, maybe I like to spend my free time exploring the joys of carpentry, but I also have an important meeting on Monday with some kind of important people.”

Wardrobe

Confidence is the key to life. Doesn’t matter if you’re trying to land a job, get the girl, or maybe even impress said girl’s parents. When you look good, you feel good, and chances are, you’ll perform better. Contrary to popular belief, however, you don’t need a GQ subscription or have the style wits of Tim Gunn to be a guy who cares about the way his clothes represent him. One reason to care is that women notice those small details, and why not have an icebreaker to open up the doors to a conversation with any woman for any reason. It’s absolutely not necessary to keep up with the latest style trends. But it’s important to keep a wardrobe complete with items that transcend time and effort that are made for the frame with which you currently reside. Doesn’t matter if you’re short, tall, husky or slim. There’s a size that fits you and looks good on you without cutting off your blood flow or drowning you in an ocean of clothes. Find it. Scent

One of the first things people notice and remember is his smell. Now I understand why Mom was so adamant about young boys showering on a daily basis; she didn’t want us to be the smelly kids in class. We all had one of those, and he or she was never high on the social scale. Most likely never got invited to birthday parties or just to hang out unless our parents made us. Personally, I’m not into the artificially scented soaps and deodorants. But even the hippest hippie can maintain a fresh and becoming scent with natural body washes, soaps, and oils that compliment his pheromones. Use this advice to create a longing, well-intended memory. Not one that reeks. Be sure to check out Dr Goat Products that includes therapeutic essential oils

Moisturizing

The time and effort it takes to moisturize on a daily basis may not be as beneficial to some as others, but it goes a long way to incorporate the routine into your grooming regimen at least once a month. In the fight against irritation that comes from shaving and trimming, it’s a must. Not to mention the prevention of dry and ashy skin during the colder months of the year. Above all else moisture helps you maintain a more youthful look and can helps your skin age more slowly. The key is finding a great non-alcoholic shaving product.

Nails

Manicured doesn't sound like a very masculine word. We almost immediately connote the word with a group of women sipping Prosecco out of champagne flutes and grumbling over their latest failed Tinder date. Fine then, maybe the local nail salon and spa isn’t your idea of a fun weekend activity and you’d rather be changing the oil in your pickup. Whichever the case, your hands, when out in public should look like you’ve been doing the former as opposed to the latter. Have you ever shaken hands with your mechanic after he’s finished working on your car. That’s how we all feel when we shake hands with the guy with dirty nails. If there’s any small detail of grooming that is most noticeable it’s well manicured nails. Mainly just cleaned and clipped. Simple as that.

Confidence

Through it all, no matter if you’re the most physically well-groomed man in all the land, it mostly goes out the window if you don’t wear it well. Confidence goes hand in hand with anything you experience. Without it, your actions come across as if they’re intended for showcasing purposes only. Don’t be that guy. Do what you do because you want to do better and be better for yourself first and foremost. The rest will take care of itself.
